We came up short against the Hampshire Hogs, but it was great days cricket and the weather of course was sensational. The Hogs scored 266 for 8 declared and we were 201 all out. In truth we were short of one more specialist bat. Moses as ever bowled a faultless opening spell and picked up two wickets. Seb Woodford demonstrated his new Sunil Narine style and produced two thoughtful spells and a wicket. Tom Sutthery bowled some nice away swing, taking one wicket. However, Ninian Macgregor was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets, 3 from full tosses, and a nice McClure stumping, completed with typical MacGregor swagger and verbals. Sean also took two fine catches. Savin caught a stunner on the boundary.
Savin and Ben Sutthery opened up, possibly being one of the youngest Query opening partnerships ever. They both looked at ease but didn’t go on. Jack Bramwell was given a shocking LBW decision early in his innings. Akash (75) and Simon Campbell (35) put together a good 4th wicket partnership and took the total to 140 with plenty of overs to spare, but we then started losing wickets regularly. There was a spirited 9th wicket partnership of 40 from Sean and Seb, but we fell 65 runs short. Thanks to the players for making the journey down to Warnford which remains a special place to play.
