Wiltshire Quiries vs St Kevin’s school.

St Kevin’s won by 5 wickets

Match report 8th July: St Kevin’s

The Queries welcomed St Kevin’s school to Tidworth CC and the weather did not disappoint.

After losing the toss, we were put into bat, losing both openers quite quickly and falling to 12-2. Jack Hurley (24) and Ben Higton (31) steadied the ship, albeit slowly, on what was a slightly trickier surface than first thought. A wonderful Lunch was provided at 1:30, with Jack Bramwell (47) and Barney Nickell (19) moving the score on nicely.

There were some entertaining cameos further down the order, resulting in the Queries posting 188 in their 45 overs.

The general consensus was that we were probably 30/40 runs short, however felt with some tight bowling we may be able to take the game tight.

George Lishman and Max Woodford bowled nicely up top, taking 3 wickets between them in the power play and leaving the chase in the balance. The introduction of spin via Sam Waters and Tom Pike ultimately didn’t bring the further wickets the Queries required, and some strong middle order batting from the St Kevin’s boys killed the game before Tea.

After tea we saw the introduction of Seb Woodford’s mystery self-proclaimed ‘Sunil Narine style off spin’. Seb alongside Savin bowled with good control, as did Ollie Lishman once he finally got his chance!!

Everyone contributed throughout the day and it was a game played in great spirits at a lovely ground. Sadly the result was not to be and St Kevin’s won the game by 5 wickets.
