The fixture against Erlestoke CC never took place as the ground was unfit for play, no thanks to the incessant rain that had fallen.
2 days later, the fixture against Devizes CC was touch and go – and they decided to go! DCC won the toss and elected to bat and almost immediately wished that they hadn’t as they slumped to 3 for 1, then 4 for 12. A middle order stand produced some runs and they closed on 116 for 6. Nick Leach did much of the damage taking 3 wickets for 4 runs in 4 overs, including one maiden! Rupert Bagnall, Hugh Martin and Luke Jenks all took one apiece.
The Queries reply was almost as equally bizarre. Tom Grant hit a boundary and then was out caught and bowled in the first over. Jack Bramwell smashed 19 before he was caught, and Hugh Latham hit a slightly more measured 19 before the rain came and the umpires took the players off. Match abandoned as a draw after only 6 overs of the Queries’ innings..
