A GOOD WIN OVER THE INCOGNITI CC

AN 82 RUN WIN OVER THE INCOGNITI
Today [3rd Aug 2021] was a successful day at Tidworth for the Queries. Put in to bat when there was a lot of dew about, we lost the two openers Josh Kelly [12] and Jeff Haywood [4] with just 29 on the board when conditions were quite difficult. Then the sun came out, the ground dried out a bit, and the middle order made hay! Dan Gill [48], Josh Hodder [33], Sumith Surendran [63] and George Elliott [48] took us well up to 216 for 5 and then with a contribution from George Lishman [16] skipper Simon Campbell confidently declared at 249 for 5 after 50 overs.
The Incogniti were soon in trouble at 9 for 1 as Ollie Illingworth trapped their opener lbw. Then after a burst up to 58 for 2, wickets fell at regular intervals until they were all out for 167. Ollie took 1 for 55 from 9 overs: George Lishman bowled 4 overs for 4 runs: Sam Waters bowled 7 overs, taking 2 for 17: Josh Kelly took 1 for 25 in 7 overs and Josh Hodder came on at the tail to bowl a miserly and very effective 3 overs for 1 run. The other 6 wickets were shared by Ninian MacGregor who flighted in 10 overs of hand grenades and took 3 for 49, and by Sumith Surendran who took 3 wickets in 3.1 overs. All over in 43.1 overs and a win by 82 runs.
Many thanks to Nigel Hill for scoring: to Howard Moore for umpiring: to the team from ForkingOut for an excellent lunch and tea: and of course to The Incogniti for helping to make it such an enjoyable day. Many thanks also to Wiltshire seniors Peter Salisbury and Brian Thompson who came along to watch, together with Club President David Haywood who is happily recovering from his recent illness.
