We Lose the Final Match (narrowly)

Simon Campbell writes: “Fabulous last game of the season today at Larkhill. The Gunners had last minute jitters so the AGC led by our own Sumith Surendran filled in. On a variable Larkhill pitch AGC scored 234 in 48 of their 50. Ben Higton (the pick) got 4, Theo Bossom 1, Kieran McClure 2, Geoff Ramsey 2, Paul Roberts 1, Ben Hadfield 2. There was some variable fielding from certain players, but their total was very gettable we thought. Bramwell (40) and Hadfield started well, Geoff Haywood (43) also made a fine knock, as did Kieran (40) and I slightly redeemed myself with 47, but wickets fell at regular intervals and we fell 9 runs short with 2 overs to go. Cracking game, many thanks to Sumith, who marshalled his side brilliantly. And many thanks too to Paul Roberts for organising this game (twice), for skippering so well and for treating us to a galvanising last wicket stand with Sean McClure of 23 runs, that go us so close. Let’s do that again next year.”
