Sunday 6th June vs Stragglers of Asia at Devizes CC.  Won by 5 wickets.

The last Straggler batsman is surrounded. On the right, Ru Bunday
played for the Stragglers and bowled 18 overs taking 3 wickets!

Friday 11th June. A T/20 match vs Erlestoke CC at Erlestoke.  Won by 7 runs.

Guest star Neil Clark scored 38 not out and took a wicket.  Simon Campbell took 2 for 21 from his 4 overs.

Sunday 13th June vs London New Zealand CC at Devizes.  Match drawn.

   


Hamish Horton bought himself a new pair of gloves for the day and on the right has David Haywood for company at slip.

Sunday 20th June vs Chilmark CC at Chilmark.  Won by 19 runs

Sunday 27th June vs The Rifles CC at St Cross, Winchester. Lost by 138 runs

   

Skipper Jeremy Wilkins bowled 7 overs and took 1 for 52.  In the slower department, Will Hopton took 3 for 47 from10.

Melhorn returned to Wiltshire for his 1st Query match, kept before
lunch and scored 38. Also Dom Moger came back to play
and bowled 8 overs for 36 runs. It was
great to see them both back on a field for the Queries again.

   

Matt McCann scored 29 before getting caught at point.  Murray Williams, brother of Vaughn, took the gloves after lunch

and produced a very creditable performance.

       

 

Jeremy Wilkins’ brother Alex on the left was dragooned into the XI and
it was great to have him play cricket with us. He scored 17 runs,
mainly (it has to be said) off the edge! (right photo).  The
middle photo shows Dom Moger about to try and pull a ball to leg, and
get himself out lbw.

Thursday 1st July vs Warminster School at Warminster CC. Won by 62 runs 

   

Openers Tom Grant (19) and Vaughn Williams (14) discuss technique. On the right Freddie Coupe (21) gets a boundary.

   

Brian Thompson (11*) found himself up the order at 7, but the quick singles took their toll and he had to retire. On the right,

Neil Clark with the gloves: he was the third Query keeper as Brian
Thompson and Tom Grant both retired injured before 8 overs had

been bowled!

   

Simon Campbell bowled just the one over and took one wicket for 6 runs. That was the wicket of Nick Bourne (above) the opener,

who was the 9th wicket to fall, and who scored a hard-worked and well crafted 62.

Sunday 4th July vs Hampshire Hogs at Warnford. Match drawn.

   

Ru
Bunday bowled 19 overs, taking 1 for 92. On the right, the keeper is
Matt McCann with Sam Blake at slip and Piers Foster at gulley.

   

Joe Wookey bowled 6 overs and took 1 for 33, and Sam Blake (r) took 1 for 23 from 5 overs.

Wednesday 7th July vs Marlborough Blues CC at Marlborough College. Won by 7 wickets.

currently playing in UK for the 2010 summer and confirmed for the Queries tour to Yorkshire.

Sunday 11th July vs UEA Old Boys XI. Lost by 5 wickets

   

Jim
Langan scored 60 before getting caught.

Matt Jamieson was caught for 13.

   

Chris Sloane scored 22 before he was caught.

David Haywood was caught for 20.

   

Joe Wookey carried his bat for 56, scoring 8 fours and a 6.
Tom Grant scored quickly from the first ball before being bowled
for 29.

Then he bowled 12 overs including 3 maidens, and took 3 for 53.


Joe Wookey kept wicket very tidily, despite some wayward bowling.

Wednesday 14th July vs SOA CC at Radley College. Match drawn 

   

 

Raymond van
Schoor scored an unbeaten 103 and later took 3 catches as keeper.

   

 

In his first match for
the Queries Jack Mynott scored 19* and took his first wicket.

Monday 19th July vs Oxford Downs CC at Standlake. Won by 9 wickets

   

Will Langton bowled 8 overs for 40 runs and was in the cordon at the other end with  skipper Joe Wookey and David Haywood.

   

Tom Grant opened the batting, and carried his bat for a magnificent
132. His opener partner Phil Wise, suffering with a strained groin

stayed with him for 80 runs before he was bowled. The opening stand was 220 runs.


Simon Campbell bowled13 overs and took 3 for 33. Tom Grant bowled12.3 overs and took 5 for71.

Thursday 22nd July vs the Free Foresters at Devizes. Rain stopped play: match abandoned as a draw.

   

Ru
Bunday bowled 2 overs for 5 runs before the rains came. On the right,
the inevitable slip cordon. In the foreground is Ru Bunday and
then l to r, candidate Chris Downham, skipper Brian Thompson and slip
Simon Campbell.

THE YORKSHIRE TOUR

 

26th July vs Yorkshire Gentlemen’s CC at Escrick Park. Won by 8 wickets

 

 

   

On the left we
have slip Neil Clark and 1st keeper Ray van Schoor who was later
injured and handed over the gloves., but for Tom Grant’s bowling the
cordon was beefed up a bit!

Jim Langan took over the gloves from Ray van Schoor, and then Tom Grant took over the gloves from Jim. With Jim is Neil

Clark, and on the right Quentin Sear is at point.

 

   

Jeremy Wilkins bowled 12.2 overs and took 2 for 42.  On the right,
star of batting parade was Jim Langan with an unbeaten 91.

 

   

Jim Langan faced 110 balls for his 91*.  On the right President David Haywood thanks the YGs for the match

and their superb hospitality.

7 maidens and took 2 for 41. Ray caught 1 and stumped 1; and Ru bowled
12 overs and took 3 for 37.  On the right, Ray opens his batting
account: he would later go on to an unbeaten 134 which included two 6s
and 15 fours.

right, Matt McCann on his way to scoring 26 before being bowled.

 

   

In the Ilkley match, David Haywood nudges one to fine leg whilst on the
right guest player Matt Pickles scored a hard-hit 78.  He

played for the YGs against us and then stood in for Matt Jamieson for
the other 2 matches.  Matt J injured himself before the tour was
was unable to travel.

2nd August vs Gloucester Gipsies at Stowell Park. Match Drawn.

 

   

Henry Wakefield
bowling in his debut match for the Queries: 6 overs 0 for 30.  On
the right, Tom Grant in action; he took 1 for 47 from 14.

 


   

On
the left, Phil Wise in action with his off spin. he took 2 for 28 from
8. On the right Nick Lind is keeping with Phil Wise at cover point.

 

   

On the left, Freddie Coupe on the drive. He was not out 26 at stumps.
Henry Wakefield on the right scored 43 in his debut match and did very
well in these dusty and slow conditions.

4th August vs Glamorgan Nomads CC at Corsham.Lost by 143 runs

 

 

   

Jeremy Wilkins took the new ball for the 2nd over. His first spell of
8 overs went for 29 runs. The slip cordon was Brian Thompson,

Vaughn Williams and Tom Mynott.

 

   

Kit Patrick bowled 3 overs for 24 runs before having to retire with a strained side.  Dom fry meanwhile bowled

10 overs in the match and took 3 for 50.

 

   

Kit Patrick opened the batting with Harry Farley. Kit was out first,
completely misreading a full toss and getting bowled for 6.  Harry
went on to score a creditable 28 before getting caught behind.  On
the right Vaughn Williams set off with a 4,6, 1 and 4 and then chipped
one up for an easy catch.

 

   

Jeremy Wilkins at the crease. he scored just 4 before scooping one up for a catch. On the right, last man in Brian Thompson

has company around the bat – but not for long. he was adjudged lbw for a duck and the match was lost.

8th August vs Seagry CC at Seagry. A 40 over match. Won by 18 runs.

 

 

   

William Leachman scored  29 before he was bowled and David Haywood scored 22 before he was caught.

 

     

Simon Slabbert has just left Dean Close School and is heading for
Birmingham University.  His unbeaten 103 today was instrumental

in sealing a victory for the Queries as he played a near flawless innings. He later came back to bowl some leg spin.

 

   

The two Dans – Jackson on the left who opened for Seagry and bowled 7 overs for 38 runs, and Gibson on the right who bowled

4 balls for 9 runs and persuaded the Queries skipper Nick Lind to declare !!

 

   

Nick Lind was brought in to break a promising partnership and almost
immediately caught and bowled Dan Gibson. he then followed that with a
second wicket in his second over and with that sealed the fate of
Seagry.  On the right Queries skipper Nick Lind
master-minded a good performance from the Queries.

9th August vs The Incogniti CC at Devizes CC. Won by 2 wickets.

 

   

Candidate Dan Jackson opened the bowling and generated quite a lot
of pace in his 9 overs overall. meanwhile keeper Oli Williams
marshalled the slip cordon of Chris Downham and skipper Simon Campbell,
with his pink gloves!

 

   

Nick Lind bowling in his customary cap. He finished with figures of 1 for 25. On the right, Phil Wise

moves in at mid wicket as the bowler approaches the crease.

 

   

Chris Downham scored 47 before getting bowled. Here he is driving hard
over mid on.  On the right Harry Farley, who opened the batting,
plays and misses outside his off stump. He scored a creditable 18
before getting caught off the leg spinner.

    12th August vs Collingbourne CC at Collingbourne Ducis. Lost by 18 runs

 

 

 

   

The players gather after the fall of a wicket.  On the right, Paul Kelly opened the bowling with, unusually for him, some

medium pace seam up.

   

New candidate Chris Golding made his debut in this match, bowling his leg spin. He finished his 8 overs with 3 for 49.

   

Tom Shaw gave 4.1 overs of seam up and took 3 wickets. Later he would enjoy a short partnership with

Dan Gibson, seen here on the right, who scored 16. This particular shot went for a 6.

   

Tom Shaw scored 141 out of 205, with 14 fours and six 6s.  The were Queries playing in the Collingbourne XI, and on the

right we see Tom Pike and James Grant at slip and keeper respectively. Elsewhere there was Tom Grant and Iain Kiy.

Ru Bunday asked for this photo to be included. It records that he 

ran out Tom Grant, deflecting a dropped catch onto the stumps at

the non-strikers end!

29th August vs All Cannings CC at All Cannings.  Won by 9 wickets.

   

Two of the bowlers that did the damage to All Cannings: Chris Golding on the left took 2 for 27, and on the right

Tom Palmer took 3 for 16 from just 4.1 overs.

30th August vs The Frogs CC at Devizes. Won by 32 runs.

   

Tom Grant opened the batting and scored
a brisk 35 before being run out. David Haywood replaced him and
made 31 himself before being bowled.

   

Kit Patrick was the batting hero of the day with a marvellous 97. Skipper Nick Lind delayed the declaration

to allow Kit to get his maiden century only for Kit to be denied when he edged it to the keeper.

1st September vs Valley End CC at Chobham. Won by 71 runs

Ray van Schoor, playing his last game for the Queries, scored 89. On the right Vaughn Williams had scored

30 when he was well caught at mid wicket.

2nd September vs Hampshire Wayfarers CC at Devizes.  Won by 8 wickets

4th September; The President’s XI versus the Secretary’s XI – Great Durnford CC. President’s XI won by 53 runs

 

 

 

     

Kit Patrick opened for the President’s XI and was bowled first ball!
Tim Law scored 32 not out and Mark Fenn scored an aggressive duck.

 

   

David Haywood scored one before being caught. The secretary’s team take
a drink – Ian Perry, Chris Maidment, William Leachman, \and Simon
Campbell. Brian Thompson is the umpire in green.

 

   

Harry Farley gets ready to bowl: he bowled 4 overs for 26 runs.  On the right, William Leachman took 3 for 18 in 7 overs.

 

       

Three batsmen in the Secretary’s XI: Harry Farley opened and scored 13:
Freddie Coupe scored 18 and was caught: Jordan Butler was bowled for 1
by a good swinging ball from Tim Mynott, and later came back for a
second go and had scored 23 when stumps were called.

 

     

Jeremy Wilkins bowled 5 overs and took 1 for 16:  Kit Patrick: and Piers Foster was not out 40 when stumps were called.

 

   

Tom and Rory Law were both enlisted to do some fielding – and very well they both did.

Final match of the 2010 Season: 5th September vs Hinton Charterhouse. Won by 77 runs.

 

   

The batsman looks round in amazement to see the slip cordon for the
opening over of the Queries fielding session. Tom Pike is about to bowl
and it was good to see him regaining some of his old form. On the right
it looks as though keeper James Grant is inspecting his slip cordon of
Iain Kiy, Simon Campbell and David Haywood.

 

   

Neil Clark bowled 4 overs and took 1 for 29. On the right Harry Farley moves in from mid wicket as the bowler bowls.

Tom Grant, skipper of the Queries, bowled 12.5 overs and took 5 for 33. On the right the field surrounds the final batsman
