vs Eastcote CC, North London, 12th September



David Haywood opened the batting.



David was on 49 when he hit the ball off the bottom of the bat, it hit the top of the keepers

pad and then it bounced off to be caught at slip.



Freddie Coupe surveys the field before his first ball. He had scored 5

when he was out caught.



Simon Campbell came in at 4 and hit a quick 42 before getting caught

on the deep cover boundary.

to a neighbouring garden for 6.

This ball James drilled straight back at the bowler.



James again!  He bowled well for his 8 overs, with one wicket maiden, and took 2 for 43.

He was also responsible for a very good run-out, throwing a ‘bullet ball’

from deep backward cover to the bowler’s end.

vs Hinton Charterhouse CC, 6th September.



Tom Grant opened the bowling. In his opening spell of 13 overs he took 2 for 44.

He had a second spell of 4 overs, and finished with figures of 17 overs, 3 maidens,

3 for 63.

James Illingworth thinks about the ball that he has just missed. No matter – he went on to

score an excellent 118 before getting caught on the boundary. His total included eight 6s and six 4s,

and he achieved all this having torn a muscle in his calf and batting with a runner for much of his innings.

vs the Hampshire Wayfarers CC at Devizes, 3rd September

The Wayfarers were one short, and David Haywood

played for them. This drive went straight to the hands of Will Langton

and David was out for 2.

vs All Cannings CC at All Cannings, 30th August



Candidate Clyde Williams opened the batting and scored an unbeaten 59,

including eight 4s and three 6s.



Jon Moore partnered Clyde Williams and scored an unbeaten 34 which included six 4s.



Freddie Coupe pacing the boundary and waiting to come in at 3, but he

never got the opportunity.



Inside the 12th over it was all over and time for the handshakes.

vs Collingbourne Ducis CC at Collingbourne, 14th August



Barnaby Bossom was our excellent scorer – despite being crowded by onlookers.



Matt Jamieson opened the batting with Will Langton.

Matt made made 56 before being caught.



Jon Moore was in fine form with the bat, scoring 59 before he was

bowled by fellow Query Iain Kiy.



Geoff Ramsey at the crease towards the end of the Queries 40 overs, when

they were trying to force the pace. Geoff was bowled fo 4.



Mark Fenn also tried to push the score along, but made only 5 before he was bowled.



The Queries had a good day in the field. There was some excellent and very athletic fielding,

and 3 good catches. In this photo, Tom Shaw is keeper, Geoff Ramsey at 1st slip, David haywood at 2nd,

Mark Fenn at 3rd. Will Langton is short cover and skipper Chris Sloane at mid off. Will Langton is the bowler and he

finished with the very good figures of 7 overs, 2 wickets for 18 runs.

Senior Query Howard Moore came along to watch the match and

was pressed into service as an umpire!  He did very well and more than earned his tea!



The Queries innings comes to an end after 40 overs. The score was 230 for 7 and Theo Bossom (1*)

and Chris Sloane (8*) were the final batting pair.

There was a lot of speculation as to who would get to the 100 mark first. As it was, Tom Palmer

was caught on 91, which included nine 4s and four 6s.

also a Query – is the batsman.

The familiar style of Tom Grant – at 10 overs, 2 maidens, 1 for 37 he was the most economical bowler.

vs the Yorkshire Gentlemens CC at Escrick on 27th July

The Queries batted first after a rain-delayed start, and faced 51 overs before declaring.

The YGs were 8 down at stumps (after 45 overs) and the Queries could not dislodge the tail-enders,

despite surrounding the bat.

Under a sky heavy with rain clouds,

Simon Campbell surveys the pitch. It was a credit to both sides that,

despite the weather and coming on and off occasionally, 115 overs were bowled in the day.

vs Ilkley CC at Ilkley on the 29th July.

The start was delayed because of rain and then reduced to a 30 overs each match. As it was, the Queries

had bowled just 22 overs before the match was abandoned because of rain.

at short mid wicket.

vs Aldershot Garrison XI on 22nd July, at Devizes.

vs Oxford Downs CC at Standlake, 20th July.

Skipper Derrick Beer was partnering Josh B-D at the end, and even scored 2 runs, but it

was clearly not enough to excite the fielder at backward square!

vs South Oxford Amateurs at Devizes, 15th July

is also a Query. A hamstring injury earlier in the match meant that he had to use a runner.

vs Marlborough Blues CC at Marlborough, 8th July



Tom Grant opened the batting with Tom Shaw, and scored 33.

By the time Jeremy Wilkins came in to bat, there was a game to save and he had to stay there

and block. He and Derrick Beer batted together for 9 overs to save the match.

with Jeremy Wilkins survived all the Blues could throw at them for 9 overs and achieved the draw.

Such was the pace of play that the square leg umpire

only had time for one photo!  Here is Matt McCann (wkt), Simopn Campbell

and david haywood in the slip cordon. The Queries won the 45 over match by 42 runs.


vs Dauntsey’s School: 25th June




The Queries take to the field. Hamish Horton skippered the side which

included candidates Tim Williams and Aaron Day, as well as ‘older’ member James Sayer

son of VP Jzames Sayer, who had travelled from Scotland to play




Rupert Bagnall bowled 7 overs, one maiden and took one for 21.
