The Queries scored lots of runs in their 40 overs, 316 for 6 with two players (Tom Beard and David Bromley) getting centuries and retiring – and then HCCC scored 248 for 9 in their innings, including a century from their overseas Jarred Jardine. Joe Dorgan’s bowling was efficient and clinical as he took 6 for 39 in 7.5 overs.

After a stunning tea, our hosts reply did not start well as they lurched to 24-4 with Joe Dorgan taking 3 and Billy Richardson the other. A recovery was led by their SA pro Jarred Jardine who retired with 100 off 58 balls, but Joe returned to take another 3 to finish with 6-39. Dave Bromley’s 2-19 from 5 overs helped close the match out for a 68 run win.
A really enjoyable game on a lovely ground with great hospitality, slightly marred by the frequent and lengthy searches for balls hit out of the ground into Mr Dyson’s gardens!
