Queries tame the Tigers

Jack Grant lead the Queries in a 35 over match today against the Lenton Tigers, a team from his old university Nottingham. Savin Banumugama opened the batting with guest Tom Woodward and stormed off to an imperious century when he retired. Bouyed by that massive support Tom Pearson (33), Max Woodford (35), Seb Woodford (22) and local military guest Francois (surname unknown) (57) the Queries amassed the impressive total of 302.

Despite claiming two early wickets, our bowling was not quite in the same mould as our batting, nor our fielding, and the visitors lurched to a modest 149 for 7 before putting on a tremendous final flourish to finish with 288.

Josh Mallinson took 3 wickets and Tom Pearson – who had a very good all-round day – 2. And we managed to hold on to 6 catches which made a big difference.

Tidworth was looking its best today, the sun shone strong and warm, lunch was a typical ForkingOut feast and the after-match beers flowed. A good day, and a good win by 14 runs.
