The Gunner game has often been a close-run thin, and today was no exception. Despite the discovery of an impressive new bowler, Will Harries, who took 2 for 47, and the courageous efforts of Sumith Surendran [64/3], and Geoff Ramsey [60/2], skipper Paul Roberts did not have strength in bowling and the Gunners scored quickly and heavily, eventually declaring at 321 for 8. The Queries reply was quite quick for the first 10 overs with Will Harries and James Melhorn playing quite well, but when they were out the pace slowed and at 20 overs we only had 76 runs on the board. The resilience of Neil Roynon shone through as he bludgeoned 64 runs before getting out and Luke Jenks was watchful for his 23 not out, but the tail fell away until we were 9 down with one over to play – and Paul Roberts fended it off for a draw.
