Apparently a rather slow over rate kept the Queries total down, nevertheless Jack Bramwell took every opportunity to pile on the runs and carried his bat for 87, including five 6s and five 4s. He opened with Harry Latham and their stand was 79 before Harry was run out for 50. David Bromley provided a useful 32 and Peter Rigiani, making a welcome return to Queries cricket, 18. The Queries score at the declaration at the 33rd over was 214 for 4. The School started equally strongly, with an opening stand of 97 with Luke Walker and Tom Griffiths both making it to the 40s, and then fell apart as 5 wickets fell in the next 20 runs. Skipper Rupert Bagnall’s 7 overs taking 4 for 8 did most of the damage and at stumps, after 39 overs, the School was 130 for 8. Match drawn, match enjoyed, and Queries satisfied with a good afternoon’s work !
