Back to our Winning Ways at Larkhill

The Queries won the toss and opted to bat first. Ollie Illingworth and Josh Kelly set off slowly against some decent bowling however after Ollie was bowled for 18, guest player Usman Akram and Josh accelerated fast putting on 120 for the second wicket when Josh was caught for an excellent 80. Usman also got into gear and scored an impressive 58 before he was caught. After that only Simon Campbell [19] and James Brewer [20*] made it to double figures and we ended our 50 overs at 251 for 7, supported by a massive 44 extras from the Gunners.
Our reply with the ball was at times as wayward as our oppos, and we notched up 46 extras but we held our catches – 8 of them – and were led by an excellent 5-fer by Geoff Ramsey whose figures were 10-2-51-5. Ollie Illingworth and Usman Akram both took 2 wickets and James Brewer got 1.
After 40 overs the Gunners were 214 for 7 but an excellent keeper catch by Seam McClure, some tight bowling by Geoff, James and Usman, and the score board pressure brought about the final wickets and the Gunners were all out for 243. Queries had won by 8 runs.
It was a very enjoyable day’s cricket, superbly hosted, on a lovely ground and with everyone playing their part. Thank you Larkhill.
