QUERIES WIN INAUGURAL MILLFIELD FIXTURE

We enjoyed a wonderful day’s cricket at Millfield yesterday and came out on the winning side. Batting first in a 50 over game, we posted 333 for 8 with the top 4 – David Bromley, Ollie Whiteley, Tom Grant and Will Pembroke – all making half centuries and Ben Higton 40.
The second session was tense as their openers batted very well and put on nearly 90 runs. Of their top 4, two made a half century and one a century. With 45 overs gone, they needed 57 to win: with 2 overs left, they needed 25 however Query bowlers Tom Grant and Jack Butler held their nerve, and we won by 10 runs.
Lots of tense moments; lots of skills on show: the game played in great spirit: super hospitality and hosting: and all in all a great day’s cricket. Many thanks to Millfield for helping to make it so.
After the matchy, Queries match manager Andy Palmer presented a Wiltshire Queries CC shield to the school.
