A POOR DAY FOLLOWS A GOOD DAY

Queries followed up their good day at Tidworth with a poor day, and a very hot day it has to be said, at the same office. Playing the Army Masters XI, and batting first, the top order all failed with the exception of Peter Mountstephen (68), and we were well behind a decent rate too early in the game. Farley Guest Bonyuro provided a quickfire 38 and Simon Campbell at 9 pushed the score up with his 35* however with the 35 overs gone and only 185 on the board, we were light of 20-30 runs.

Our bowling then took a bit of a pasting with Usman Akram going for 5 an over and Geoff Ramsey going at 6.5. Usman bowled their number 2 but we couldn’t dislodge the others. Dom Spencer eventually bowled their skipper when the ball dribbled onto his stumps but by then it was all done and dusted. We lost by 7 wickets.

Nevertheless we all had an enjoyable – if very hot – day. Jollyon Robertson threw himself around like a youngster. Once Seb Robertson had mastered the avoidance of beamers he bowled well. Saif is a useful find and we hope will come again. Andrew Stratton showed bags of keenness and Sam Waters never stopped trying.
