A Win in West Lavington

The Queries beat Dauntsey’s School by 53 runs scoring 232 for 7 off 40 overs and restricting the School to 179 all out. Will Hyde (68) and Nick Jephson (28) batted well early on and set the foundation; Joe Wookey (47) and Alex Penny (23) who had played together in the Dauntsey’s 1st XI so many years ago, and who hadn’t (allegedly) played for 2 years enjoyed a 5th wicket partnership of 90 odd and James Brewer smote the ball nicely. The School batted competently but lost wickets regularly. Charlie Maidment had two good bowling spells, Thomas Barret and James Brewer both gave us some clinical off spin, Nick Leach boweld some heavy balls to take 4 wickets and Alex Penny bowled a fine left arm 8 over spell.

Thanks to Joe Wookey for skippering so ably and to Dauntsey’s for fine hospitality and great cricketing facilities.
